Harpreet Brar led Punjab Kings’ fightback after Rajasthan Royals were off to sensational start in the run-chase thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday. RR posted their best ever powerplay total of 89/1 after 6 overs. But both Suryavanshi and Jaiswal returned to the pavilion either side of the powerplay as Harpreet helped slow things down for Punjab. The rest of the batting lineup couldn’t take RR past the finish line despite a fighting half century by Dhruv Jurel.
Earlier, Shashank Singh and Nehal Wadhera scored superb half centuries as Punjab Kings posted 219/5. PBKS rebuilt via Wadhera and captain Shreyas Iyer first before Shashank’s fine innings lower down the order. After opting to bat first, PBKS reached 58/3 at the end of the powerplay, with Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Mitch Owen the batters dismissed.
